It is often being reported that despite the myth of cruise holidays attracting the more mature traveller, young couples and families with children are increasingly opting to sample cruising.
And now, TravelMole reports that P&O Cruises claims to have had a "breakthrough" in the quest to attract the younger cruiser.
The average passenger age booked onboard Ventura, the cruise line’s newest superliner, in its first season was 44 years old, P&O Cruises director Nigel Esdale noted.
According to the cruise line, this is a whole decade younger than the general UK cruise market.
TravelMole noted that the average age is also "only three years older than Carnival UK’s casual cruise brand Ocean Village".
The Sun recently reported that most passengers onboard Ocean Village cruise ships are new to cruising and are aged between 35 and 55.
