Theatre Takes To The High-seas On Queen Victoria
Thursday, September 6th, 2007
Cruise holidays aboard the Queen Victoria are set to take a theatrical turn with the revelation that a team of 16 classically-trained singers and dancers is to perform a series of shows on the liner’s opening tour.
Cunard Cruise line president Carol Marlow has announced that the performers are rehearsing four "major" theatrical productions to take place in Queen Victoria’s onboard Royal Court Theatre.
And for those looking to upgrade their holiday to that of a luxury cruise, there is the opportunity to enjoy one of 16 private theatre boxes, which Cunard Cruises claims to be the first ever at sea.
Up to eight guests can enjoy the performances from the comfort of "graceful armchairs", pampered with Veuve Clicquot and sweet or savoury nibbles served by white-gloved ushers.
Cruisers can even meet performers back stage following the show.
"What Cunard presents is on a par with the highest calibre of world-class productions. From the set decor and talent to the beautiful costumes by renowned theatrical designers, the work reflects a deep understanding of our guests’ cultural intellect," commented Ms Marlow.
Queen Victoria will be in service at the same time as sister ships Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth 2 when she sets sail this December (2007).
