A number of Cunard Cruises vessels are set to host so-called "Star parties" this summer thanks to a new programme organised with the Royal Astronomical Society.
Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and QE2 will offer the Star parties as part of their Cunard Insights award-winning enrichment programme.
The Royal Astronomical Society will offer the on deck star parties as well as informal discussion groups, star navigation instruction and custom night sky displays of constellations.
Astronomical points of interest will be highlighted using the SkyScan software in a planetarium onboard Queen Mary 2
"At Cunard, we are committed to offering our guests a dynamic and diverse range of enrichment opportunities," Carol Marlow, president Cunard Cruises commented.
Royal Astronomical Society spokesperson Dr Robert Massey added: "The RAS is delighted to be working with Cunard as part of our ongoing programme to promote astronomy and geophysics to the wider public."
Among the experts set to sail onboard QM2 this summer will be Ian Ridpath, an astronomer and author with a passion for Greek myths of the constellations, which he will discuss with guests onboard.
