Friday, April 20th, 2007The newest vessel to join the fleet of Princess Cruises, the Royal Princess, has embarked upon its first voyage from Barcelona.
Beginning its active life with a number of Mediterranean cruises, the maiden voyage of the Royal Princess will take in the culturally-rich cities of Maresill, Florance, Elba, Palmero and Mallorca.
Later cruises from the Royal Princess will include more exotic destinations, with visited ports including a number of Unesco World Heritage Sites from Ravenna in Italy to Canakkale in Turkey.
"A sister ship to the line’s popular Tahitian Princess and Pacific Princess, the 30,200-tonne Royal Princess offers passengers a boutique version of Princess’ acclaimed onboard options," Princess Cruises reports.
It adds that these features, including a range of entertainment and dining options, are offered in the "intimate" setting of the 710-passenger liner.
Earlier this week, Princess Cruises announced that it would relocate the naming ceremony for its Emerald Princess and Royal Princess liners following the sinking of a cruise ship off the coast of Santorini.
