Cunard Cruises vessel QE2 has made her final call to Sydney as part of her final farewell world voyage before being decommissioned and turned into a floating hotel off the coast of Dubai.
Crowds numbering in their thousands gathered in Sydney harbour to watch as QE2 met sister ship Queen Victoria as the latter ship made her first visit to the port.
QE2 has visited Sydney harbour a total 29 times in her 30 years of service.
"She’s an amazing liner that has captured the world’s imagination and truly symbolised the romance and glamour of ocean travel for more than four decades," Cunard Cruises president and managing director Carol Marlow commented.
Ms Marlow added that QE2 was "iconic" and had captured the world’s imagination during her 40 years of sea-based travel.
Queen Victoria, recently christened by Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, is currently sailing on her maiden world voyage.
