As the Christmas season approaches, many cruise fans could soon be unwrapping tickets to a winter voyage on to the high seas.
One ship that has all the trimmings, according to the Miami Herald, is the carnival Splendor, the new 113,000-tonne superliner from Carnival.
The fun ship came in for praise from the newspaper for its dining options and its entertainment programme. The latter in particular includes shows which go beyond the "simplistic" options that are offered on some major cruise lines.
Meanwhile, pianist Greg Gallello and friends, who perform in the revolving Grand Piano bar, get special praise for their ability to get even the biggest scrooge into the holiday spirit.
"Only a confirmed Grinch could remain grouchy on a Carnival cruise," wrote the Herald’s Jane Wooldridge.
As well as grown-up fun, there are plenty of activities onboard the Carnival Splendor to keep children entertained.
For example, 2 to 11-year-olds can run around to their hearts’ content at Camp Carnival, while 12 to 14-year olds can enjoy movies and dance parties at Circle "C".
