Ocean Village Investment Will Continue
Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008
Although the Ocean Village cruise brand will be phased out in 2010, passengers and travel agents have been assured that investment in the brand will continue.
Ocean Village is particularly popular with people who are new to cruising and to encourage sales over the 2009 winter period, a new television advert will air in January, the Travel Trade Gazette reports.
Established in 2003, Ocean Village was designed to appeal to holidaymakers that had never considered a cruise and in the past five years the brand has scooped a number of prestigious awards, including best cruise line at the 2006 Observer and Guardian Newspaper Travel Awards.
Nick Lighton, managing director of Ocean Village, said that there are two years left for first-time cruisers to test their sea legs.
" Ocean Village is extremely good at getting cruise virgins into the marketplace," he said.
"As the brand phases out it gives agents the opportunity to build a new customer base and transfer those customers on to other Carnival brands."
Around 60 per cent of those travelling with Ocean Village are new to cruising, with an average age of 43.
