Norwegian Jade, a member of the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet, is currently enjoying her inaugural voyage of the Mediterranean.
The cruise ship departed Southampton at the beginning of the month for a two-week sailing of the region, Travel Weekly reports.
Norwegian Jade carried nearly 1,600 passengers onboard when she embarked on the cruise on the first of what is hoped will be many UK-based sailings.
"To have a ship in Southampton is a big deal for us as the UK market is growing rapidly. In 2008, we will have 40 per cent more Brits sailing on our ships. It’s a huge increase for any business," commented NCL general manager Stephen Park.
Mr Park added that the cruise line’s winter sunshine cruises to Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean and South American are selling well.
Features onboard the newest Jewel-class ship include ultra-luxury Courtyard Villas which boast their own private deck and swimming pool.
