Norwegian Dawn Is Two For Two
Monday, July 7th, 2008
Norwegian Dawn found itself at the centre of not one but two high seas rescues recently after sailors found themselves stranded in the vicinity of the notorious Bermuda Triangle.
Following Carnival Valor’s recent involvement in last month’s rescue of seven Cuban migrants, the heroic Norwegian Dawn responded to a call from the US Coast Guard to rescue Andrew Paul Giglia near to Cape Cod.
Mr Giglia was returning from a sailboat race in Bermuda and was suffering from symptoms including shock and required evacuation.
Soon after this encounter, the NCL ship received a second distress call from Hillary Bercovici who was in distress south of Montauk.
Mr Bercovici has suffered a head injury while sailing in rough conditions. A rescue boat was deployed by Norwegian Dawn and the sailor was given medical treatment to his injury onboard the cruise ship forehead.
