Poker players looking to enjoy a hand or two while on holiday might like to book themselves a cruise on the Norwegian Pearl.
The cruise liner is trialling new technology that could revolutionise how poker is played aboard all of Norwegian Cruise Line’s (NCL) ships.
During the trial, all of the casino’s poker tables will be replaced with PokerPro tables - which automate the gaming experience.
With less pressure on the ship’s staff, they can spend more time attending to the needs of guests and players can play at a speed that suits them.
Manufacturer PokerTek also claims that the computerised tables are 100 per cent accurate, which minimises the need for mediation.
Commenting on the technology, Jim Abbas, vice president of NCL’s casino operations, said: "The ship offers tremendous choices already, from bowling to rock climbing, and automated poker is one more exciting entertainment option."
