Cunard Cruises has announced a new partnership with the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO).
The orchestra is to perform on Queen Mary 2 as part of the cruise line’s noted Cunard Insights programme.
Six Kennedy Centre Chamber Players as well as NSO director Nigel Boon, will present including three performances and three lectures this September onboard the cruise liner.
Cunard Cruises is also a sponsor of the upcoming NSO 2008 - 2009 Red Series - seven performances of classical music presented by guest artists from around the world.
"This new partnership further illustrates Cunard’s commitment to supporting the performing arts. Whether it is our sponsorship of cultural institutions such as the National Symphony Orchestra or our own Cunard Insights onboard enrichment programme, our dedication to culture and the arts is reflected in virtually everything we do," commented Cunard president Carol Marlow.
Red Series highlights will include concerts with NSO principal conductor Ivan Fischer, and other performers such as Itzhak Perlman and Michael Christie.
Another Cunard Insights event taking place onboard ship Queen Mary 2 this summer will be the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art programmes.
