While there is more than enough for kids to do onboard modern cruise ships, this summer Princess Cruises has created onshore excursions aimed at enticing youngsters towards the cultural capitals of Europe.
Teenagers won’t be at a height disadvantage if they take part in the Exploring Stockholm by Rooftop excursion. This tour offers a unique perspective on Stockholm as, buckled into safety harnesses, cruisers explore the city 140 feet above street level.
For younger members of the family, Swedish Fairytales, also based in Sweden, is described as a "magical tour for kids". Taking in the Junibacken Museum, children’s books are brought to life and kids can meet characters including Mercury the Cat or even visit Pippi Longstocking’s house.
"We are always on the lookout for new and intriguing experiences for our passengers throughout the world and this summer’s European season is no exception," Jan Swartz, senior vice-president at Princess Cruises, said.
For the more energetic youngsters, Helsinki by Jopo Bike is a tour on Finland’s Jopo bike. Cycle from the city to the public beach on a ten mile tour.
And onboard, children can enjoy arts and crafts, discos, pizza parties, karaoke and much more.
