Golden Princess Sees Life-saving Achievement
Wednesday, October 8th, 2008
A girl aboard the Golden Princess had her life saved when a fellow guest prevented her from drowning, it has been revealed.
The Canwest News Service reports that Michael Law was in one of the swimming areas when he spotted a girl unconscious at the bottom of a 1.5-metre pool.
He then dove in to pull her out and, with the help of two others, she regained consciousness.
There were "large signs" telling passengers that no lifeguard was on duty so 52-year-old Mr Law said he did "what anyone would have done in the same situation".
"I saw her in the nick of time," he explained, adding that the ship’s safety officer later told him that the girl was minutes away from dying.
To reward his achievement, Princess Cruises has given Mr Law a free Caribbean cruise for seven days, as well as a letter of commendation.
The Golden Princess visits destinations including Tahiti and Alaska.
