Family Cruises Increasingly Popular
Monday, February 26th, 2007Cruises are growing in popularity as a holiday choice for families, it has been suggested.
The New York Times reveals that cruise lines are not only catering to children travelling with parents, but additionally appeal to several generations as a holiday choice.
According to the newspaper, family cruises are popular because of onboard areas for children, educational activities as well as family suites - offered by Royal Caribbean - and activities for the older generation.
Ocean Village Cruises last year announced its decision to refurbish its Ocean Village Two cruise ship to make it more suitable for single parents wishing to go on a family cruise holiday.
It noted that between summer 2005 and summer 2006, there was a 26 per cent increase in single parents travelling with two children.
"Over the coming years we expect to welcome increasing numbers of single parent families on board and well continue to adapt our offering to help cater for them," commented Peter Shanks, Ocean Village Cruises managing director.
