A new cruise liner was christened last weekend, continuing the current trend of cruise ship launches.
Earlier this year, P&O Cruises liner Ventura was launched in the UK by Dame Helen Mirren, while Independence of the Seas, a Royal Caribbean Cruises vessel, was also named.
Next week on July 10th, Myleene Klass, an early-years reality television graduate and current M&S model, will launch a Carnival Cruises fun ship - Carnival Splendor - in a ceremony that is forgoing Champagne in order to use a British-themed local wine.
However, Holland America Line’s newest ship Eurodam enjoyed a thoroughly Dutch launch ceremony when she was named by Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands on Tuesday.
"I name this ship Eurodam. May God bless the Eurodam and all who sail on her," Queen Beatrix said, according to USA Today.
The monarch then rang the ship’s bell to signal the release of the customary Champagne on the side of Eurodam.
