Cunards Queen Mary To Sail Round UK
Monday, January 12th, 2009
As part of her fifth birthday celebrations, the Cunard Line’s Queen Mary 2 ship will embark on a special voyage around the UK.
Departing Southampton on October 10th, the ship will complete a lap of honour, taking in ports such as Liverpool and Greenock.
This will be the first time the Queen Mary 2 has completed a voyage around UK and will follow in the footsteps of the QE2, which used to make the journey regularly.
Since Queen Mary 2 was launched in 2004, she has journeyed over 750,000 nautical miles and crossed the Atlantic 104 times.
Speaking last week, Cunard president and managing director Carol Marlow said the cruise line was very proud of Queen Mary 2’s achievements.
"This ship spearheads Cunard’s fleet of the most famous ocean liners in the world which currently consists of Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria," she commented.
Cunard’s fleet will be expanded next year by the launch of the hotly anticipated Queen Elizabeth.
