A number of cruise companies are planning special events aboard their ocean liners in celebration of Valentine’s Day, it has been revealed.
Cruise Critic reports on the romantic itinerary on the decks of cruise liners Carnival, Costa, Celebrity, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean and Princess.
According to the website, Royal Caribbean Cruises is planning on entertaining its guests with a battle of the sexes game show and a sweethearts’ dance with the drink of the day being named Love Connection.
Celebrity Cruise ships will be offering couples romantic spa specials, hosting a Valentine’s Day party and handing out roses to female diners.
However, taking the celebrations to a new level is Princess Cruises, which is opening a new Department of Romance in celebration of the 30th anniversary of TV series The Love Boat.
"We consider the art of romance so integral to our passenger experience that it makes sense for us to dedicate an entire department to the cause," commented Jan Swartz, Princess senior vice president.
Among the delights offered in the Department of Romance are features such as Romance by Room Service - a package which includes a special presentation of champagne and chocolate, scattered fresh rose petals and flameless scented candles.
