Cruise Holidays Turned Into Wellness Breaks

Cruise holidays are increasingly attracting more active passengers, it has been suggested.
While a range of dining options offer guests the opportunity to enjoy different cuisines onboard, some cruise liners are offering a number of active options, reports Tripso.
Columnist Anita Dunham-Potter writes that the days of only eating, drinking and sleeping on a deck chair are no longer the reality for many cruise passengers.
She highlights the "vast" sports programme offered to passengers onboard Royal Caribbean vessels, including a 43-ft high rock-climbing wall and ice rinks.
Participants can receive training and take part in competitions on the wall, while they can surf and bodyboard on the wave simulator called the FlowRider.
Other active options for Royal Caribbean passengers include an in-line skating route and a boxing ring.
But it’s not all sweat on cruise lines, Ms Dunham-Potter adds.
Other wellness indulgences can be found at onboard spas, where guests can enjoy skin treatments, massages and body wraps.
Taking advantage of such offers can help Royal Caribbean passengers - and other cruise guests - turn their holiday into "a complete health makeover at sea".
The Cruise Lines International Association lists a number of vessels with onboard health advisers, among other services.
Dieticians or nutritionists can be found onboard cruise lines such as Carnival Cruises, Holland America Line and Cunard Cruises, among others.
