Cruise Holidays On The Increase

More and more Britons are opting to beat the credit crunch by taking a cruise holiday.
British holidaymakers are choosing to travel on American ships, where they can take advantage of the weak dollar and see their pound go further, the Press Association reports.
Research carried out by Cruise118 revealed that the European market has increased by 20 per cent since 2005, with growth set to continue for the foreseeable future.
James Cole, a spokesman for the organisation, said: "Going on a cruise is more popular than ever as consumers become savvier in seeking value-for-money deals for their holiday.
"This is why the cruise sector is actually benefiting from the current credit crunch. People are still spending on holidays and want to continue to visit new places, but are more aware than ever of how far their money will stretch."
Mr Cole noted that an increasing number of adults are copying their children and opting for gap years. However, he added that parents are leaving their rucksacks at home and opting for luxury world cruises instead.
Meanwhile, Cunard Cruises announced last week that its cruises were more affordable than ever and suggested that those opting for cruise holidays were immune from currency fluctuations.
