Cruise holidays can be great for single people, it has been suggested.
Reflecting on her own experiences on a recent cruise to the far east, Jane Archer maintains that it is easy to meet new people and make friends while seeing the world in style.
In an article for the Telegraph, she explains how a sizeable minority of travellers on board a quality cruise ship are making their journeys alone and are keen to establish friendships that can make the trip a more pleasant one.
Prices and standards of accommodation vary depending on the company providing the services on board but generally cruise liners are a good way to see the world in the comfort and safety of a ship, Ms Archer explains.
She said that the relaxed friendships established among her fellow travellers on board a cruise to the far east recently was a "perfect example of why cruising is such a great holiday for single people".
Last month, cruise company Ocean Village claimed that its services can help families to entertain their children if they are unenthused by the prospect of a more traditional summer holiday.
