Carnival Set To Build New Terminal In Caribbean

Carnival Corporation has announced that it is to build and operate a cruise ship terminal on a Honduran island in the Caribbean Sea.
Development of the Mahogany Bay - Roatan facility, which will be on Roatan Island in the Honduras, is due to begin this autumn and is scheduled for completion by summer 2009.
Carnival Corporation has reported the cost of the development to be at $50 million and it will also incorporate a 35,000 sq ft welcome centre including retail shops, restaurants and bars, which will be adjacent to the terminal.
"Mahogany Bay - Roatan is designed to build upon the success of our other projects by providing cruise ship guests with an unparalleled landside experience, with modern facilities and wide range of shore excursion choices," commented Giora Israel, Carnival’s vice president of strategic planning.
The terminal is predicted to host 225 cruise ship visits and 500,000 passengers annually within five years, according to Carnival Corporation.
