Carnival Fun Ship Countdown Begins

The countdown to the launch of the newest and largest member of the Carnival Cruises fleet began yesterday, when Carnival Splendor was officially handed over to her owners in Genoa, Italy.
Carnival Splendor, which will be based in northern Europe this summer, officially became a member of the cruise line’s flotilla in the traditional handover ceremony at Fincantieri’s Sestri shipyard.
Among the highlights onboard the 113,300-tonne ship are a two-deck children’s play area and a waterpark in addition to the Cloud 9 Spa.
Cloud 9 Spa is decorated in Asian style and features a thalassotherapy pool, thermal suite and several treatment rooms.
Carnival Splendor is due to be officially named next week by singer and Marks and Spencer personality Myleene Klass.
The ceremony will take place on July 10th, after which Carnival Splendor will embark on a three-day sailing to Amsterdam before later this summer visiting ports in Holland, Russia, Denmark, Germany, Estonia and Finland.
