The largest American cruise liner to operate in Europe, Carnival Freedom, could add Malta to its list of destinations, it has been revealed.
The Sunday Times reports that the Carnival Cruises ship will potentially make stop offs at the European port.
Bob Dickinson, Carnival’s president and chief executive officer, was quoted by the newspaper as saying that there "is [a] reasonable possibility that Malta could be on the itinerary" noting that the company is growing larger and that there will hopefully be "additional ships operating in the Mediterranean in the coming years".
"European cruising offers the ideal all-ages holiday," Mr Dickinson said.
Carnival Freedom, the newest addition to the Carnival Cruises fleet, has several facilities that would make it appealing to those wishing to go on a family cruise.
The newspaper notes that it features a 4,200 sq ft play area, a movie room, an arts and crafts centre with candy-making machines, a soft play area, a gaming room and a children’s library.
