Following a pilot on the Carnival Fascination and Carnival Valor liners, Carnival Cruises has announced plans to expand its role with the On Deck for the Cure fundraising initiative to support the battle against breast cancer.
The company has added a range of activities including one-kilometre walks to the bulk of the fleet in order to support the cause, with the aim of raising $1 million (£0.5 million) for breast cancer education, screening, treatment and research.
Vicki Freed, senior vice president of sales and marketing of Carnival Cruises, said: "Through the tremendous generosity of our guests, the pilot programme launched on Carnival Valor and Carnival Fascination has been an overwhelming success."
She added that the company is confident that this achievement will continue with the expansion of the scheme, with the cruise holiday passengers helping to raise more funds to tackle the disease.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Carnival Cruises conducted a number of fundraising initiatives to help those affected by the tragedy.
