Cruise holiday company Carnival Cruises has "revamped" its onboard menu in an aim to combine fine dining with healthy eating.
The cruise line’s Spa Carnival Fare has been updated to include a selection of 50 salads, appetisers, soups, entrees and desserts which all feature reduced calorie and salt content and are free of trans-fats.
Furthermore, the new menu has been launched just as the latest addition to the Carnival Cruises fleet, Carnival Freedom, sets sail on her maiden voyage across Europe.
"Consumers today are seeking healthier dining alternatives…and the introduction of these new Spa Carnival Fare menu items are part of our ongoing effort to provide our guests with the widest variety of tantalizing, high quality culinary offerings at sea," commented Bob Dickinson, Carnival Cruises president.
New cuisine to feature on the menu will include langoustino and shrimp on shaved fennel salad, zucchini cannelloni, charred broccoli and cauliflower tortellini served with slow cooked tomato broth and roasted banana panna cotta in citrus broth garnished with fresh berries.
