A new voyage round the Mexican Riviera has been announced by Carnival Cruises.
Due to become a permanent fixture as of March 2009, the seven-day trip will depart from Long Beach, California and take in the popular coastal resorts of Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan.
Passengers on the trip will sail on the new Fun Ship, the Carnival Splendor, which boasts a 21,000 sq ft heath and fitness centre and 68 suites and spa staterooms.
The ship will also contain a 24-hour pizzeria and an upmarket seafood restaurant, as well as a reservation-only supper club serving gourmet cuisine.
"With its vast array of on-board facilities and features, including the most elaborate and magnificent spa ever introduced on a Carnival ship, Carnival Splendor will usher in an exciting new era in Fun Ships vacations and provide a fresh and exciting West Coast cruise option," said Bob Dickinson, president and chief executive officer of Carnival.
Situated on the edge of the Pacific Ocean, Puerto Vallarta is a lively destination, popular with US tourists.
