The Carnival Corporation has made the decision to cut fuel surcharges on new 2010 bookings across several cruise lines.
According to TravelMole, fuel supplements will be cut by a number of lines including Costa Cruises, Holland America Line, Princess Cruises and Carnival Cruise Lines.
However, the move is subject to certain terms and conditions and the corporation has warned that charges may be reintroduced should the price of oil rise again.
"If the price of light sweet crude oil according to the New York Mercantile Exchange Index is $70 per barrel or less at the 14.30 close of business as reported by Reuters on each of the 25 consecutive trading days ending five trading days prior to the guest’s cruise departure date, the fuel supplement will be refunded in the form of a shipboard credit," the Carnival Corporation said.
Bill Harber, the corporation’s marketing director, said the decision demonstrated Carnival’s commitment to its guests and passengers, adding that it hoped to make its packages the most "attractive" available.
In related news, research carried out by P&O earlier this month suggested that the overall cost of cruising has declined significantly over the last ten years.
