Brits Plan To Increase Holiday Spending
Monday, October 20th, 2008
More than half of Britons are planning to increase the amount they spend on holidays over the coming year, it has been revealed.
A recent survey by online travel community TripAdvisor found that 56 per cent of people are looking to spend more on travel in the next year than they did during 2008.
Commenting on the findings, spokesman Luke Fredberg said: "It’s surprising that despite the economic climate, British travellers are planning to spend more on leisure travel in the next year than in the past 12 months."
Furthermore, of those surveyed, 21 per cent said they planned to make more environmentally conscious travel choices over the coming year.
In related news, some 15 million Britons are preparing to jet off in search of warmer climes this winter, with destinations such as the Caribbean proving particular popular with sun-seeking holidaymakers.
A recent report by the Telegraph described the Caribbean as a "cruising paradise", with Royal Caribbean International, Princess Cruises and Carnival Cruise Lines all serving the area.
